Waltari - Release Date 2007
8.5
Heavy Prog-Related Industrial/Hard Rock
This album's sound is hard to describe. Probably the best description would be "experimental metal", but even that doesn't quite do it justice. It is primarily a metal album, but it mixes in a variety of other genres too, everything from classical to dance to hip-hop. There are also a lot of progressive elements here (odd time signatures, long songs, etc.), so fans of prog rock should enjoy this, at least the middle part, which is basically an epic song divided up. Anyone who has an open mind should give this album a chance.

Menomena - I Am the Fun Blame Monster! 2004
8.3
Free Form Non-Prog Rock/Independent
A strange album. Very dark with a post-rock influence, but it's catchy and melodic too. Great for rainy days, or when you're having a bad day. Not flawless, but it does the job pretty well.

Kaddisfly - Set Sail the Prairie 2007
8.9
Prog-Related Rock/Independent
"Set Sail the Prairie" consists of fourteen songs: one for each month of the year, and one for each solstice. As probably could be expected, mood changes with the season, with the winter months heavier and sadder, and the summer months more cheerful. It's a great mix of alternative rock and progressive rock, and should be very satisfying to fans of each.

Kaddisfly - Buy Our Intention; We'll Buy You a Unicorn 2005
8.8
Prog-Related Rock/Independent
"Buy Our Intention; We'll Buy You a Unicorn" combines alternative and progressive rock to create a sound that sounds modern, but is much more interesting than much of the boring modern rock out there today.

Dream Theater - Scenes from a Memory 1999
9.0
Technical Neo Prog Rock/Metal
A great progressive rock/metal concept album, easily Dream Theater's best work. The story is kind of stupid, but lyrically the album isn't bad. At times, it does drag a bit (it's over 75 minutes long), and sometimes the solos are a little tasteless, but overall it's a great album.
