Comment by Time_Signature 7 days ago AC/DC: Black Ice2008Stellar Non-Prog Hard Rock! Classic, Boogie, Male-Melodic-Shouting, RnR-Lifestyle, Sex Rock 'n' roll will never die! AC/DC: Ballbreaker1995Stellar Non-Prog Hard Rock! Classic, Boogie, Guitar, RnR-Lifestyle, Sex I might be a progster, but I will never be too fancy-pancy to listen to some good old-fashioned rock 'n' roll... and that's what this album contains - pure unadulterated simple classic rock music with that wonderful Gibson SG sound. This album is simply full of great AC/DC guitar riffs. Fates Warning: Parallels1991Magnificent Prog Metal! Melodic, Male-Clean-Vocals, Male-Melodic-Shouting Certainly one of the best prog metal albums of all times, "Parallels" is a masterful blend of prog elements and catchy melodic choruses. Comment by Time_Signature 3 months ago Rush: R30 - Live in Frankfurt2005, DVDTime_Signature has only watched this once. Bass, Drums, Guitar, Male-Melodic-Shouting Great live DVD with lots of musical and visual delicacies. Geddy's voice sounds strange on some of the old tunes, but that's okay, since the rest is just fine. Oh, and look out for the Pirates of the Temple of Syrinx. Comment by Time_Signature 3 months ago Queensrÿche : Mindcrime at the Moore2007, DVDTime_Signature has only watched this once. Magnificent Epic Prog Metal! Concept, Hard-Rock, Female-Clean-Vocals, Female-Melodic-Shouting, Male-Clean-Vocals, Male-Melodic-Shouting, Male-Operatic-Vocals, Male-Theatralic-Vocals, Conspiracy, Politics, Poverty, Social, Violence D.r.a.m.a. ;-) Strawberry Blonde : Børn i Bolivia2008, SiTime_Signature has only listened to this once. Magnificent Non-Prog Pop! Emotional, Melodic, Midtempo, Melancholic, Female-Clean-Vocals, Poverty, Social A special limited edition single from the angel-voiced twins of Strawberry Blonde, 'Børn i Bolivia' contains one track bearing the same title. The track is a piece of quality pop, which is most welcome in this day and age, its lyrics dealing with poverty in Bolivia. What's more, if you buy this single, you will support Unicef's efforts in Bolivia and help them build new schools. Volbeat: Guitar Gangsters and Cadillac ...2008Time_Signature has listened to this a couple of times. Excellent Non-Prog Metal! Concept, Melodic, Hardcore, Rock-'n'-Roll, Nu-Metal, Melancholic, Male-Clean-Vocals, Male-Melodic-Shouting Volbeat carryy on their brand of "metal 'n' roll" on "Guitar Gansters and Cadillac Blood", which does not offer any noteworthy changes from the predecessor, but of course, if it ain't broke, why fix it? The album is a concept album of sorts, as seven songs evolve lyrically about the goings on in "10 House City". While most of the songs are mostly hardcore-ish, som of them contain some really earrippong old school thrash metal riffs. Megadeth : So Far, So Good... So What!1988Time_Signature has only listened to this once. Excellent Non-Prog Thrash Metal! Aggressive, Male-Melodic-Shouting, Anti-Establishment, Nihilistic, Politics, Social Not the best Megadeth album, but it does contain some noteworthy tunes like "In my Darkest Hour" and the Megadeth version of "Anarchy in the U.K.". Megadeth : Peace Sells... But Who's ...1986Time_Signature has listened to this several times. Great Heavy Non-Prog Thrash Metal! Melodic, Guitar, Male-Melodic-Shouting, Anti-Establishment, Nihilistic, Politics, Social, War A thrash metal classic which belongs in any metal collection, "Peace Sells... but Who's Buying?" contains many noteworthy and memorable tracks, such as "Peace Sells" with its legendary bassline intro. Megadeth : Countdown to Extinction1992Time_Signature has listened to this a couple of times. Magnificent Heavy Non-Prog Metal! Melodic, Guitar, Male-Clean-Vocals, Male-Melodic-Shouting, Death, Identity, Politics, Psychology, Social, War A metal milestone! Alrune Rod: Alrune Rock1971Time_Signature has listened to this a couple of times. Excellent Psychedelic Prog Rock! Dark, Bass, Drums, Guitar, Male-Clean-Vocals, Male-Melodic-Shouting, Male-Theatralic-Vocals, Psychology This one is far less dark and far less heavy than the previous two albums, and the songs are also much shorter. While still progressive, the songs on this album are more accessible and a type of prelude to the more commercial albums that follow. Alrune Rod: Hej Du1970Time_Signature has listened to this a couple of times. Magnificent Heavy Prog Rock! Dissonant, Dynamic, Epic, Psychedelic, Dark, Bass, Drums, Guitar, Vocals, Male-Clean-Vocals, Male-Theatralic-Vocals, Philosophy, Psychology Alrune Rod carry on their own brand of dark and heavy psychedelic progressive rock with 'Hej Du' which contains three strong epic tracks. The vocals are still theatralic, but less "off key" on this one than one the debut album. Alrune Rod: Alrune Rod1969Time_Signature has listened to this a couple of times. Excellent Nordic Psychedelic Prog Rock! Dissonant, Dynamic, Epic, Heavy, Dark, Bass, Drums, Guitar, Organ, Vocals, Male-Melodic-Shouting, Male-Theatralic-Vocals, Nature, Psychology The debut album of one of Denmark's prime psychedelic acts, 'Alrune Rod' contains some very dark and heavy progressive psychedelic rock tunes, which probably takes some getting used to for the "modern" music ear. Especially the, at times atonal, theatralic vocal style may be strange to some, and perhaps Alrune Rod overdo it a bit, but then again, it is pretty much within the zeitgeist of Danish psychedelic rock at the time. Queen: Sheer Heart Attack1974Time_Signature has only listened to this once. Excellent Middle-Eastern Prog-Related AS Rock! Male-Clean-Vocals, Male-Melodic-Shouting, Male-Operatic-Vocals, Male-Theatralic-Vocals Doing what they do best, Queen serves many interesting tunes of all sorts. If you want variation, go Queen! Metallica : Death Magnetic2008Time_Signature has listened to this several times. Magnificent Epic Prog AS Thrash Metal! Groovy, Melodic, Aggressive, Energetic, Guitar, Male-Clean-Vocals, Male-Melodic-Shouting, Death, Nihilistic Ah... they're back. This album contains elements that are
reminiscent of "Master of Puppets" and "...and Justice for
All", such as long songs and more musical complexity thant what
Metallica have offered since the black album, and added to this
is some of the raw energy of "St. Anger".
"Death Magnetic" is a very varied album with some songs veing
almost Slayer-like while others are groovy and others again
very melodic, and others again contain riffs that remind me of
the Exodus of the 80s. Best of all, Kirk's shreddy solos are
back, which I've certainly missed for many years. "Death
Magnetic" certainly is the best Metallica since "...and Justice
for All". Slayer: Reign in Blood1986Time_Signature has only listened to this once. Stellar Non-Prog Thrash Metal! Aggressive, Brutal, Male-Atonal-Screaming, Death, Nihilistic, Violence, War Perhaps one of the most important metal releases ever. You collection won't be complete without it. Buy or die! Queen: Jazz1978Time_Signature has listened to this a couple of times. Excellent Middle-Eastern Non-Prog Rock! Guitar, Male-Clean-Vocals, Male-Melodic-Shouting, Male-Operatic-Vocals, Male-Theatralic-Vocals Perhaps more polished than the predecessors, yet "Jazz" is a vrey strong album with lots of variation, once again displaying the incredible amount of talent that Queen harbored. Fates Warning: FWX2004Time_Signature has listened to this a couple of times. Great Middle-Eastern Prog Metal! Industrial, Male-Clean-Vocals, Male-Melodic-Shouting Lots of interesting elements on this one although as a whole, it's not the among the best FW albums. Various Artists: A Tribute to the Four Horsemen2002, TribTime_Signature has only listened to this once. Good Prog-Related AS Thrash Metal! Male-Atonal-Screaming, Male-Clean-Vocals, Male-Growling, Male-Melodic-Shouting, Anti-Establishment, Death, Nihilistic, Social, Violence, War Yet another tribute to Metallica, which is quite good, but on most songs (95% or so), the vocal styles just don't suit the music. Either it's too soft, too screamy, too growly or just too lame. I guess it shows how much of a trademark Hetfield's voice is. Queensrÿche : Queensrÿche1983, EPTime_Signature has listened to this a couple of times. Excellent Prog-Related AS Metal! Twin-Leads, Male-Atonal-Screaming, Male-Clean-Vocals, Male-Melodic-Shouting, Male-Operatic-Vocals There are inklings of the later QR originality on this EP, which contains four, if not always top notch, then at least solid 80s style - yet original - tunes (although there are some bloopers which were not fixed). |
